Breakfast with Santa, Holiday Boutique and CHP Toy Drive!!

A day to give back and support your community!

By Bronwyn Velazquez November 30, 2017

A few years ago I had this vision of creating a fun and unique way to support local small businesses and Mom-Entrepreneurs. I wanted to give back to the community, the city I was born and raised in and to another passion of mine. The California Highway Patrol. In 2015 we held our first SGV Mom's boutique and toy drive. It was small but we gathered so many toys we filled 2 bins. The following year we filled another 2 bins and then some, gathered 2 bags of stuffed animals for another project for the Altadena CHP Office, and SO many canned goods which went to the San Gabriel Women's Foundation Holiday Baskets and the San Gabriel Mission Christian Services Food Bank. We had the support of the community. We ran out of room. I knew I needed to find a larger venue, and so I joined forces with the San Gabriel/Alhambra Elks Lodge. I met Tricia, an Elks leader, who not only became my partner on this but a friend too! The Elks have done so much for the community through the years. Every year they raise money for their "Dictionary Project". They purchase dictionaries for every third grader in our school district as well as several surrounding school districts that need help. Our son who is now 14, still has his. The Elks also are so kind to let our Middle School use the lodge for the 8th grade party/dance. I knew my event would go hand in hand with theirs, and so a new relationship was born. I wanted to share a little behind the scenes of how and why we put this event on. This event is put on by some fabulous small business women, a few of our Chamber of Commerce members, supportive friends, volunteers, the Elks, The CHP and my family. Together we work to celebrate the season, support one another and give back to the community! I hope you can join us!
