Enter the 2019 Monterey Park Birthday Celebration Poster Contest

Monterey Park students K-8 are invited to create and submit a poster for the celebration.

Celebrate Monterey Park's 103rd birthday and our recognition as one of America's best places to live and raise a family at the annual birthday carnival and parade.

Birthday Celebration Parade

Fun for the entire family with local high school bands, dance groups, community organizations, businesses and VIPs. 

  • Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m.
  • New route for 2019: Parade will start at Ramona/Newmark and proceed north to Garvey Ave., West to Chandler Ave., south to Newmark Ave. and East to McPherrin Ave. Parade ends at Barnes Park at the carnival. New route map (JPG).
  • FREE parade entry for bands, drill teams, JROTC, service clubs, local community organizations, novelty and more. Click here for downloadable parade application.

Parade Grand Marshal

The City of Monterey Park welcomes East LA College student athlete Antoinette "Toni" Harris (@_Antoinetteeeee) as a Grand Marshal of the 2019 parade. Ms. Harris is recognized as the first and only female football player to play a non specialist position and be offered a full scholarship on a college football roster.


Community Grand Marshal

The City of Monterey Park welcomes Senate Senator, Susan Rubio representing the 22nd Senate District  as the Community Grand Marshal of the 2019 parade.


Honorary Grand Marshal

The City of Monterey Park is proud to have, Theresa Amador, a dedicated resident since 1966 that has been involved in many service organizations, volunteer committees, and continues to serve her community as a Planning Commissioner and a Monterey Park Library Foundation Board Member.


Birthday Celebration Carnival

Four days of thrilling rides and live entertainment at Barnes Park.

  • Thursday, 5-10 p.m.
  • Friday, 5-11 p.m. 
  • Saturday, Noon-11 p.m.
  • Sunday, 1-10 p.m.
