This November, we hosted a Pound Puppies Pound Party at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society. We were so excited to work with Pound Puppies and the shelter. Two of my favorite things from my childhood and a cause close to my heart. We had a fabulous day in the "Bahamas" area of the SGVHS. The shelter was so gracious and excited for the event. As were we. I wanted to share our day with our readers.

We were excited to host 16 kids at the event. The party kicked off with a hello and coloring pages, which were then put into page protectors. Later on the shelter was going to hang them on the dog kennels. They had a place for the name of the dog on the coloring pages. We included a dry erase marker for them, to easily add the name of the dog, and change it after he/she was adopted by their new forever home.

Next up our families divided into two groups and took turns on the shelter tour and dog treat making project. Our families were able to tour the entire Humane Society, and learned how the shelter runs. They got to visit with the resident dogs, cats and bunnies. They got a behind the scenes look at what it takes to run the shelter. The role of all the volunteers, workers and employees. It takes a large team. They learned various ways how they can help. So much education on the importance of adopting. Spaying and neutering your pets and keeping your pets healthy. Afterwards the kids got to make healthy dog treats for the resident shelter dogs. Such simple ingredients make one amazing scented treat. We had a Dad taste test them, and he said "Wow!". You can learn how to make your own treats with the recipe. It's easy, fun and a great family activity.

Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Each child in attendance got to adopt their very own Pound Puppies!! The kids were SO excited to take home their very own Pound Puppies. The Pound Puppies are indeed timeless. They are just as loved as they were in the 80's. I still have mine. After adoption time, the kids posed for pictures with our fun back drop and photo opportunities we had for them. It was such a wonderful day, we truly didn't want it to end. Our families were so amazing, and brought some wonderful donations to the shelter that day. We look forward to continuing our service and help to the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society. We wanted to thank Pound Puppies for this amazing opportunity. We LOVE Pound Puppies! Adopt your own huggable best friend! Or buy one for all the kids on your holiday shopping list. It's a unique, fun and timeless gift.
