Can you believe it!? From Wednesday to Friday, December 11th, 12th, and 13th, Temple City High School will be
having its 36th Annual Holiday Boutique in the school’s media center. The first ever TCHS Holiday Boutique
was founded and hosted by the Home Ec teacher Gerry Henderson in 1984, and is continued
by Business Management teacher, Kim Allen.
Students get hands on practical work experience planning creating and managing a retail event.
This year’s holiday boutique will be hosted by the Business Management class which consists
of 160 students. Students have their ServSafe Food Handlers Certificate and will be working
towards a CTE (Career Technical Education, formerly ROP or Vocational Education)
Business Management Entrepreneurship Certificate. As a class, they plan the event, promote
and set up the shops. They each choose their desired department such as marketing
planners, merchandising and layout designer, customer service, security, PR, vendor support,
or schedule and activities manager. All students write a Business Plan about the event
marketing, management and financial strategies.
The Business Management class is an academically and culturally diverse class with varied
abilities and language levels. “Students are able to show what they know and can excel no
matter how they perform academically. Some of our students really shine with an innate
business sense and have a great attitude for high end customer service. Kids these days are
engaged and excited about business, capable, respectful and respectable”
*Santa will be making an appearance, a family holiday movie and hot cocoa will be on the
schedule, and kids’ crafts and demonstrations will be happening ‘round the clock.
Shop local handmade artisans, and local Mom Entrepreneurs at this classic event.
You not only support the amazing TCHS Business Management class but also local small business Moms!!
